All presenting blood donors at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital blood drive will receive their choice of a pint of Blue Bell ice cream or a “Give a pint; Get a pint” voucher for a free pint of Blue Bell ice cream anywhere Blue Bell is sold.
“We applaud Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Blue Bell Ice Cream for their support of the Red Cross and patients in need,” said Scott Caswell, CEO of the Red Cross Greater Ozarks-Arkansas Blood Services Region. “Rewarding those who give blood is another way these great partners are caring for the community and supporting the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross.”
Blue Bell says they are proud to support the work of the Red Cross and Arkansas Children’s Hospital by offering an incentive to give on a hot summer day. “Our pint-for-a-pint promotion is a great way of thanking the people who make time to donate during the summertime. It is also an opportunity to celebrate National Ice Cream Month in July and try one of the many delicious flavors of Blue Bell Ice Cream,” said Doug Hutchins, Blue Bell Branch Manager.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in Arkansas), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters. Supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood, teaches skills that save lives, provides international humanitarian aid and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
