Cadena Contracting participated in Day of Caring

NORTH LITTLE ROCK - The United Way of Pulaski County hosted the 3rd Annual Day of Caring Saturday, April 17. This year, the day of hands-on community service involves over 80 companies, non-profit organizations, and local schools. Nearly 800 volunteers completed over 50 service projects at 33 locations throughout Pulaski County. Day of Caring provides much needed improvements and service projects to local nonprofits that otherwise could not afford.

Day of Caring is one of the few volunteer opportunities that focus on the nonprofit organization. These organizations work tirelessly to alleviate burdens on the citizens of Central Arkansans; however, they many times do not have the funds to do improvement projects on their locations, Day of Caring provides those improvements to the local nonprofits.

A team of volunteers from Cadena Contracting volunteered their Saturday to complete a service project at the Westside YMCA Siebert Youth Center, 4710 Sam Peck Road, and Little Rock. Cadena Contracting is a 4-year old construction company owned by Jacqueline Cadena. Many of the volunteers have emigrated to the U.S. from Mexico. They see this opportunity as a chance to give back to a community in which they have found success.

Projects will be completed in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Maumelle, and Jacksonville as well. In 2002 more than 3,500 volunteer hours were donated to complete over 45 projects at 32 community organizations in Central Arkansas. For more information, please contact the United Way.
