Mexican Consulate delivered IME check for $20,000 for scholarships

LITTLE ROCK, AR – During a ceremony on Monday, February 14, 2011 the Consul of Mexico Andres Chao delivered a check of $20,000 dollars from the Mexican government IME to the Hispanic Women Organization of Arkansas (HWOA) to benefit Mexican students in continuing with their higher education in Arkansas.

The check was accepted Margarita Solorzano, Director of the Hispanic Women Organization of Arkansas and students that have been benefited with previous grants (IME Becas).
Attending the ceremony were Zessna Garcia, Raúl Torres-Almaraz, Diana Barrera, and Luis Carlos Martinez.

“In an effort to rise the levels of higher education of the Mexican population living in the United States, the Mexican government and the University of California (Berkley) invites non profit organization to apply for this type of grants that contributes to financially support university or college students of Mexican decent,” said Consul Chao.

The HWOA mission is to advance educational opportunities for Hispanic women and their families, to celebrate and teach others about our cultures, and to become active participants in the community.
