Hispanic Caucus meets with Speaker Pelosi to push for comprehensive immigration reform

¡Hola! Arkansas Staff Writers

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) and the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi released the following statement immediately preceding their meeting to discuss comprehensive immigration reform and the CHC-endorsed STRIVE Act (H.R. 1645).

“We have an obligation to the American people to pass comprehensive immigration reform. The need is urgent and the time is now. House Democrats are committed to passing a bill that honors our principles and upholds the American immigrant tradition,” said Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“Immigration is among the most critical issues facing Congress this year. It is not only a Hispanic issue, millions of lives are hanging in the balance, and our country awaits a solution,” said Congressman Joe Baca, Chair of the CHC.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) is comprised of Members of Congress of Hispanic descent. Since 1976 the CHC has been addressing the needs of the Hispanic community in all areas of American life.
