Today’s THV & ¡Hola! Arkansas presented a $3,000 Hispanic Media Scholarships to UALR

¡Hola! Arkansas Staff Writers

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- On Monday, September 15, 2008 the Hola! Arkansas Career & Business EXPO officially kicked-off the National Hispanic Heritage Month in Arkansas with a reception held at the Riverview Room at the Peabody Little Rock Hotel.

The Keynote Speaker was the Consul of Mexico, Andres Chao.

At the reception Maura Lozano-Yancy, president & group publisher of ¡Hola! Arkansas and Chuck Maulden, news director of Today’s THV presented to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Provost David Belcher the “Today’s THV- ¡Hola! Arkansas Scholarship” for $3,000.

The scholarship announcement and introductions were done by Katherina-Marie Yancy, backpack journalist for Today’s THV. Yancy was the first Hispanic backpack journalist in Arkansas and a graduate of UALR in Mass Communication, radio, television and film.

The gift will be divided in four scholarships of $750 each for Hispanic students that want to pursue studies in Mass Communications at UALR.

“This is part of our on-going commitment to the growing Hispanic community in Arkansas, and we’re proud to be the leader in this area,” said Today’s THV General Manager Larry Audas.

Lozano-Yancy added, “Arkansas’ demographics are changing rapidly, and the industry needs to keep up with these changes. This partnership between ¡Hola! Arkansas and Today’s THV has been a win-win for the entire community. Both organizations strive to provide the best coverage of local news in both English and Spanish.”
