LITTLE ROCK, AR – A very happy Castro family cut the ribbon to their new home surrounded by friends and volunteers from the Habitat for Humanity of Pulaski County on Saturday, October 30.
“This is an extremely deserving family. The parents have been out working on their house with Habitat staff and volunteers almost every work day,” Paige Perritt, Director of Development Habitat for Humanity Pulaski County said.
“Their daughter has already chosen the pink for her walls and Hannah Montana theme for her own bedroom,” Perrit added.
The Castro’s have met several of their future neighbors and are excited to finally move in make the house a home on 3900 Ludwig, Little Rock.
The home construction lasted from May to October 2010.
The family of four has been living in a small, overcrowded house in a neighborhood littered with frequent break-ins and other criminal activity.
“They are a hardworking, extremely responsible family who will greatly benefit from the opportunity Habitat is able to provide,” said Perrit.
Thrivent Financial made the build possible for Lutherans and the local Lutheran churches who provided both funding and countless volunteer hours.
Misty Stewart, Volunteer Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity Pulaski County said of this partnership, “Habitat is privileged to work alongside Thrivent and hopes to continue the strong partner relationship for years to come.
This is the second home built in partnership with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the Heartland Chapter of Lutherans in Pulaski County.”
