Yolanda Amaya
Yolanda has worked for the last the 3 years for the Jefferson Comprehensive Health System, a community health organization with 7 clinics throughout the state of Arkansas. Yolanda works in the community clinic of Little Rock. Amaya was the first bilingual medical assistant of the organization. Her work as an interpreter has helped thousands of Hispanics to communicate their medical worries with many doctors, dentists and health specialists. Yolanda has unlimited energy when it comes for her to donate her valuable services as a volunteer for the Hispanic community of Arkansas. Yolanda works arduously helping the homeless people of central Arkansas, especially to Latinos and Spanish speaking people who lack the essential necessities to live. She is forms part of the committee of organizations who are planning to build a community clinic in Southwest Little Rock. Yolanda is a key element in each health community fair in the central part of Arkansas. For the last 4 years she has collaborated with the success of the ¡Hola! Arkansas Health and Safety Fair. Amaya is an active volunteer of several organizations, including Council 750 of LULAC and Arkansas Hospice. Amaya was born in Managua, Nicaragua. She came to Arkansas in 1991 and has a family of eight brothers and sisters. She is the only one who lives in Arkansas.
