Proposed therapy cap for children on Medicaid

The Department of Developmental Disabilities Services would like to cut therapy limits for children on Medicaid from 180 minutes per week to 90 minutes, allowing more time only when deemed necessary.

In a Tuesday meeting, Director Melissa Stone said the proposed changes across departments are to balance the Medicaid budget.

"Everything we're trying to do against the Medicaid program is to have a sustainable Medicaid system," said Stone, “so that we can offer the needed services to these Arkansans."  Stone said they want to take cost-saving measures that won't keep people from necessary services.

The deadline for public comment on the proposal is extended to Sunday, November 13.
