While scores from the Razorback Nation headed to Fayetteville for football fan day on Saturday, Jason Watson and his LadyBack volleyball team headed down the hill to a town most of his players had likely never heard of. They arrived in the small town of Paris, Arkansas for a practice in front of local parents and players who appreciate the dynasty that is their hometown Lady Eagle Volleyball. Though a 3A school, Paris annually schedules and defeats larger schools. They have appeared in the last five state title games, winning each of the last two.
Paris Head Coach K. Wes Davis embraced the moment, becoming a student himself, observing how Coach Watson and his staff develop their team. Davis said he hoped his girls saw the intensity and thought processes it takes to perform at the highest level. he went on to say how he appreciated the best team in he State of Arkansas willing to build a program from the ground up. The players had a chance to mingle and take photos together, and of course, call the Hogs.
For Coach Watson, he was excited to see how his young roster reacted to practice on the road. He had high praise for Redshirt Senior Pillar Victoria, who also spent time on the Puerto Rican national team. The culture of the program is moving in a positive direction, and chemistry is building for what should be a year of success for LadyBack Volleyball. For the community of Paris, Arkansas, the stories of having the best come to your gym will last for generations.
