In between going to the beach and family vacations, it’s important for teens to make time for college planning. Summer is a perfect time for students to build their academic skills and set up a college planning schedule. Renée Gernand, director of College Planning Services at the College Board, advises, “If you work together as a family, by the time the senior year of high school rolls around, you’ll be on track to graduate and go to college.”

Little Rock School District unveils plan to combat bullying
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Bullying has been in issue that has pushed the Little Rock School District into the spotlight. For months parents have complained that schools have not done enough to address the problem. On January 16 they announced their plans to eliminate the problem once and for all.
"What we've come up with is something that the community can be proud of," said Dr. Sadie Mitchell, superintendent of Elementary Schools in the Little Rock School District.

GED could cost Arkansas' students $120
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Changes may be coming for Arkansans who want to get their GED. Right now the test is free, but it may not be for much longer. The testing process will also become more rigorous.
The changes will start January 2014. It sounds far off, but look at how fast 2012 has flown by. If you are contemplating getting a GED, now may be the best time. Plus if you haven't finished the course before the changes take place you'll have to start over and pay.

George Peters National Hispanic Scholar 2012
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Study hard, pay attention in class, do your homework… Some students actually heed these commands from their parents and teachers, and a select few have been rewarded for their hard work.
One student was honored as a National Hispanic Scholar, meaning he is among the top five percent of Hispanic students who took the 2010 PSAT/NMSQT: George Peters from Central High.
