“EL GRITO” of Independence of Mexico celebrated in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, AR – On Sunday, September 14, Little Rock celebrated the Day of the Independence of Mexico in Little Rock at the River Market Amphitheatre.

The honorable Andrés Ciao, Mexican Consul in Arkansas send “El Grito” (the Shout). “El Grito” is considered the beginning in the celebration of the Independence of Mexico, which is celebrated on Sept 16.

The event was completely free to the community and offered and organized by the Consulate of Mexico in Arkansas.Consul Chao celebrated the beginning of the Day of Independence shouting, “Viva Mexico.”

LITTLE ROCK, AR — On Monday, September 15, 2008 the Hola! Arkansas Career & Business EXPO officially kicked-off the National Hispanic Heritage Month in Arkansas with a reception held at the Riverview Room at the Peabody Little Rock Hotel.

The Keynote Speaker was the Consul of Mexico, Andres Chao.

At the reception Maura Lozano-Yancy, president & group publisher of ¡Hola! Arkansas and Chuck Maulden, news director of Today’s THV presented to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Provost David Belcher the “Today’s THV- ¡Hola! Arkansas Scholarship” for $3,000.
