Many Hispanics homes in this Christmas season had the opportunity to see their children smile.
Crews with Stop the Violence spent their Christmas handing out bicycles. Every year, Reverend Benny Johnson co-founder of “Stop the Violence” tries to make sure families in need have at least one gift to give their kids, a bike.
On December 23 in the southwest of Little Rock the members of Arkansas Stop the Violence teamed up with ¡Hola! Arkansas to bring happiness to many families giving children of the Hispanic community bicycles as their Christmas gift. The organization gathers new or gently used bicycles from donors, then distributes them to families that need help with Christmas presents.
Getting a bicycle for Christmas is a dream nearly every child has. “Arkansas is the most generous state there is, and we’re just asking for the generosity of the state to help put a smile on a kid, otherwise I would not be able to do anything for Christmas,” said Reverent Johnson.
“We are blessed to help bring happines to our families during Christmas. You give a kid a bike and you see the expression on their face, it’s enough to last a lifetime,” said Maura Lozano-Yancy, President & CEO of ¡Hola! Media Group.
So far the group has given over 270 bicycles, but their goal is to give out 400 bicycles to families in need in Arkansas.
