LITTLE ROCK, AR – Little Rock Fashion Week 2011 Model Search is Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 at 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on both days at Moody Chapel AME’s Life Center, located at 5630 Mabelvale Pike in Little Rock.
Earn a spot as a model during Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW) July 11-16 and compete for “Model of the Year,” which includes a one-year modeling contract with LRFW. Models represented by LRFW have received paid modeling jobs in print, broadcast and runway.
Males and females of all ages and sizes are wanted. The search is free and open to the public. Guidelines for auditioning models include: wear a plain white t-shirt or a plain white tank top, blue or black jean pants, no makeup, no facial rings, and ladies need to wear high heels. Applications can be downloaded and printed at LittleRockFashionWeek.com. Last year, 419 models auditioned.
“It’s time for local fashion models to take their careers more seriously, and it’s time for the powers that be to offer models with more tangible opportunities,” said Brandon D. Campbell, founder of LRFW. “We provide models the best chance of cultivating their career. At Little Rock Fashion Week, fashion executives attend and evaluate models for model of the year. It’s important that the right people see the quality of talent our participating models possess.”
Model of the year is chosen after LRFW. The 2010 “Model of the Year” was Nivea Akpore, of Little Rock. Decision makers, including executives from Dillard’s, Inc. voted. Akopore received several prizes, including her own webpage at LittleRockFashionWeek.com, and various prizes courtesy of Lifetime’s Project Runway.
2011 model search judges are: Furonda Brasfield, America’s Next Model Cycle 6 contestant and Model Me TV owner; Whitney Mosley, Inviting Arkansas fashion contributor and Minx Boutique owner; Antonio Jordan, The Smooth Skin Company model; Maura Lozano-Yancy, ¡Hola! Arkansas Group Publisher; Lauren Clark, KTHV-11 CBS reporter, Waynette Traub, senior art director at Arkansas Business Publishing Group and layout designer for Arkansas Bride; and Akpore.
