The singer will be kicking off his new tour in 2015, but the very first thing he will do before the new year starts is make history. Canela has been chosen to push the button to start the countdown timer in the New Year’s celebration in Times Square, notes Despierta America. Santa is coming to the Clinton Presidential Center

Legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta died at the age of 82. The cause of death was complications from cancer, his wife confirmed to the New York Times. De la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic in 1932. He left home at the age of 18 to study painting in Madrid, Spain but decided instead to pursue fashion design. He eventually worked as an apprentice to Cristobal Balenciaga, Spain’s most celebrated couturier.

Animated ‘Book of Life’ celebrates “Día de los Muertos”

Día de los Muertos or Day of the Dead, a holiday that celebrates those who have passed will come alive in the movie of The Book of Life. It is director and animator Jorge Gutierrez’s first feature film, and he says it’s his own take on what happens after death. The new Telemundo reality competition show Yo Soy El Artista (translation: “I Am the Artist”), featuring judges Luis Fonsi, Olga Tañon and Mario Quintero Lara, among others, is scheduled to debut September 14.

Telemundo’s “Premios Tu Mundo” reached over 4.1 million total viewers

The broadcast of Telemundo’s third annual Premios Tu Mundo (Your World Awards) ranked as the network’s #1 primetime entertainment special this season averaging nearly 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 1.9 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. Premios Tu Mundo reached a cumulative audience of 4.12 million total viewers and 2.23 million adults 18-49.

“Un Nuevo Día” wins first-ever daytime Spanish Emmy Award

The Emmy awards included for the first time programs in Spanish. Telemundo’s daily morning show “Un Nuevo Día” won the “Outstanding Morning Program in Spanish” category at the 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.
