McDonald’s Names Ralph Alvarez as President for McDonald’s USA

OAK BROOK, IL — McDonald’s Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Charlie Bell, has named Ralph Alvarez to the role of President for McDonald’s U.S.A. Alvarez becomes the highest-ranking Hispanic at McDonald’s.

Alvarez will have responsibility for over 13,000 restaurants in the United States and will report to Mike Roberts, Chief Executive Officer for McDonald’s U.S.A. In addition, Alvarez will oversee finance and strategic planning functions for the company. Most recently, Alvarez served as Chief Operations Officer for McDonald’s USA.

LITTLE ROCK, AR — The emergency room becomes a flurry of doctors and nurses as an ambulance pulls up. The patient is a 45-year-old mother of two. As she is wheeled through the doors, the doctors find that she is having difficult breathing and she has a high fever. She is finally diagnosed with the flu and a secondary infection. A doctor makes the long walk to the waiting room to inform the woman’s husband, 10-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son that she will have to be in the hospital for a few weeks for treatment.

Mexican Consul visits Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, AR — In a visit organized by the office of the U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln, Carlos Garcia de Alba, General Consul of Mexico in Dallas visited Little Rock in April 21. During his visit, the Consul met with Hispanic community leaders, attended a reception in the Office of Senator Lincoln and visited Hispanic owned establishments in Southwest Little Rock. Also the Consul visited Northwest Arkansas in April 22 and 23 where he met with directives of Wal-Mart and Tyson Foods.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK – The United Way of Pulaski County hosted the 3rd Annual Day of Caring Saturday, April 17. This year, the day of hands-on community service involves over 80 companies, non-profit organizations, and local schools. Nearly 800 volunteers completed over 50 service projects at 33 locations throughout Pulaski County. Day of Caring provides much needed improvements and service projects to local nonprofits that otherwise could not afford.
