Torreon Coah. Mexico, February 24, 2019. With goals from Diego Valdes Contreras at minutes 5th and 63rd, Ayrton Preciado at 23rd, and Javier Marcelo Correa at 39th via penalty pick; Santos Laguna gets 3 important points at home and puts Toluca on the line.
A Toluca that came back to Mexico after losing against Kansas 3 to 0 in the first leg of the knockout stages of the CONCACAF Champions League in Kansas City, MO, USA, could not contain the exorcism applied by the Saints inside Corona stadium.
Los Diablos received the first goal through the Chilean Diego Valdés who hit him straight to the goal and scored a great goal in the fifth minute. The second goal falls to the minute 23rd by Preciado who came from the left to the area of Toluca and took a powerful shot that goalkeper Talavera could not contain. After the 37th minute, Julio Furch was knocked down inside the Toluca area and center referee gave Santos and PK and the Argentine Javier Correa charged to the center of Talavera for the 3 to 0 in favor of the locals.
The referee after relying on the VAR, ejected Santiago Garcia by a strong foul against Gerardo Arteaga of Santos.
In the second half Santos came out with a lot of confidence but without stopping pressure on the choriceros, causing at minute 62nd a great pity of the defender Rodrigo Salinas to give the ball to Diego Valdés and thus fell the fourth and last goal of the game.
With this win Santos are in the 4th place of the standings. On Wednesday, February 27, Santos will host the Marathon of Honduras for the second leg of the knockout stages of the Concachampios. On March 2nd, Santos will face Leon who are third in the standings of Liga MX.
